One NorthEast's Regional Language Network has been helping hundreds of companies to communicate more smartly in overseas markets for more than three years.
The Network was created by One NorthEast and CILT, the National Centre for Languages, following an audit of exporting companies in North East England, which identified how poor international communication skills were leading to lost business.
The audit demonstrated that one in five companies believed this lack of skills had led to orders being lost, while close to half of all companies said poor international communication was creating barriers to trade.
Since then, the Network has helped businesses to access financial and other forms of assistance to sharpen their export communication skills.
The Network is proud to highlight companies in the region that have embraced the principles of good international communication - and that are reaping the dividend of their investment.
Elfab - the leading manufacturer of pressure relief systems, based in North Shields, boasts a high tech website in seven languages.
Bison Bede - the County Durham stairlift manufacturer's site is replicated in French and German, leading to new sales opportunities in both countries.
Solar Solve - the South Shields-based manufacturer of anti-glare panels for ships features Japanese, Korean, Chinese and American English among the ten languages on its website.
Cleveland Cascades - the Middlesbrough-based lifting gear manufacturer has website content in six different languages.
Palintest - the Gateshead-based manufacturer of water testing equipment languages now features six language variants of its website.
One NorthEast's Regional Language Network works closely in North East England with Regional International Trade Services, and UK Trade and Investment, to ensure companies secure the best possible assistance and advice on international communication.
