Language Skills Data

The Regional Language Network North East (RLN NE) is working with colleagues in the North West and Yorkshire and the Humber, to provide a much needed labour market intelligence (LMI) service focusing on foreign language capability and demand in the Northern regions.

What is LMI?

LMI is data concerning employment that focuses on the supply and demand of labour within a geographical area.

There is a distinction between:

Labour Market Information - raw data collected from various sources.

Labour Market Intelligence - interpretation of the raw data to enhance its practical application.

LMI is an essential element of business planning and strategic decisions.

Knowledge of LMI for the North East will support ONE NorthEast, NERIP and other regional bodies; positively impacting on inward investment and graduate retention.

The RLN will regularly review its LMI provision and would greatly value input to the process. If you have any comments/suggestions regarding language data needs or would like to complete a short needs survey , please contact Tracy Docherty lmi@rln-northernway.com or phone 07983 603197.
